Siren ePCR Suite: Designed for paramedics by paramedics

Recognizing early on that successful software development would require significant user input Medusa enlisted the help of field paramedics as well as emergency clinicians eager to have easy access to electronic patient information. Medusa’s software development team sought to develop a simple-to-use yet comprehensive electronic patient care reporting system (ePCR). In 2001 Medusa launched its flagship product, the Siren ePCR Suite, to a very warm response from EMS industry leaders like Mecklenburg EMS (Medic) in North Carolina and EMSA in Oklahoma. With over 5,700 vehicles now under contract, the Siren ePCR Suite has since become a global leader in ePCR software.

Simplifying ePCR deployment

With a standardized ePCR deployment approach Medusa has successfully implemented the Siren ePCR Suite in EMS agencies worldwide, like Guilford County in North Carolina, EHS in Nova Scotia and RAVU in the Netherlands.

An ePCR implementation is likely the most all-encompassing project that an ambulance agency can undertake. It impacts all levels of the operation, from paramedics in the field, to IT personnel, up to the CEO. Additionally, external teams and stakeholders, such as third party vendors and hospitals, require extensive coordination. With Medusa’s guidance and standardized deployment process, EMS agencies can build from past Siren ePCR deployment achievements to simplify the transition to electronic patient care reporting.

Vendor of choice for the largest IT project in the world

In 2004 Medusa entered into an agreement with Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) to outfit the Siren ePCR Suite in 60 per cent of the ambulances in England as part of the NHS Connecting for Health initiative - the world’s largest and most ambitious civilian IT project in the world. CSC selected the enterprise grade Siren ePCR solution, not only for its ability to meet the needs of frontline users, but also for its security, reliability, scalability and configurability. Once fully deployed, 14,000 paramedics will actively use Siren in 2,600 ambulances across England.
